CDEDI urges health officials not to vaccinate children without parents’ consent

The Center for Democracy and Economic Intiatives CDED has advised Teachers and all health workers to desist from enticing school children to get covid 19 vaccine without their parents’ concert.

In the statement that Maziko has seen signed by CDEDI, Executive Director for Sylvester Namiwa, says health workers should administer covid 19 Jabs to children who have willingly accepted to be vaccinated and most importantly in the presence of their parents or guardians, otherwise forced vaccination is outright of children's human rights violation.

This follows what transpired at Nsalu Trading Center in Lilongwe this week where the ministry of health officials launched the second phase of covid 19 express intiative, where CDEDI observed that children got jabs without any physical evidence or consent from their parents neither guardians.

According to Namiwa the development brings obvious fear that the children bring what they are, some of them might get vaccinated of excitement or peer pressure, taking covid 19 vaccine is a serious health issue that cannot be left to the children alone.

‘‘it is surprising that Malawian government insists on vaccinating children when there is evidence that the virus is not fatal the children,’’ said Namiwa.

Namiwa has however urged government to stop copying and implementing decmisions that are neither based on genuine science nor reflect citizens’ best interests.

He has also indicated that the Malawians are witnessing how unnecessary lockdowns and curfews have not only hurt the economy but also killed more people than the pandemic itself.
