ADMARC not ready to start buying maize from farmers.

Agricultural Development and Marketing Coperation, ADMARC, say it has no funds to start buying maize from farmers in the country.

Acting chief executive officer Dlelisile Matondo Phiri said this when she was answering questions from parliamentary committees of agriculture, irrigation and natural resources and climate change today.

Currently Admarc has only 7.2 billion kwacha which is not enough to buy maize and it is planning to borrow money from other financial entities.

Chairperson for natural resources in parliamentary committees Welani Chilenga said the ministry of finance should consider ADMARC so that farmers should benefit from their crops.

ADMARC has started buying other crops like legumes but it has not yet started buying maize due to lack of funds.
